Overview Of Role

We are looking for a Network Engineer to be based at one of our clients in Pretoria CBD.

Responsibilities
  • Leading and participating in the installation, monitoring, maintenance, support, and optimization of all network hardware, software, communication links, and routing protocols.
  • Planning, designing, and developing local area networks (LANs), wide area networks (WANs), virtual private networks (VPNs), and network security (firewalls, IDS, NAC).
  • Monitoring, analysing, and resolving network hardware and software problems promptly.
  • Connecting, operating, and monitoring network systems for over 1,000 assets.
  • Creating and maintaining network documentation, including logical network design, VLANs, and routing protocols.
  • Collaborating with the data centre operations team members.
  • Implementing customer projects for Business Units supported by Process IT.
  • Analysing, diagnosing, and troubleshooting network issues.
  • Experience working in an environment where ITIL processes are followed.
  • Experience working with HPE Comware and Aruba AOS LAN and Wireless LAN infrastructure.
Qualification

Essential:

• Matric or NQF Level 4 diploma

• CCNA (or equivalent Aruba/HPE certification)

• ITIL Foundation v4 (advantageous)


Desired:

• Basic cloud networking awareness (AWS/Azure fundamentals)

• Network+ or similar entry-level security certification

Experience

Required (2-4 years):

  • Hands-on with:
    o Switch/Router configurations (VLANs, STP, OSPF)
    o Wireless AP deployments
    o Cable management (fiber/copper)


    Technical Exposure:

  • Assisted with:
    o Network upgrades under supervision
    o Security patch implementations
    o Backup/Restore procedures

     

    Core Network Operations:

  • Implement and maintain:
  • LAN/WAN infrastructure (Cisco IOS/Aruba OS)
  • VPN configurations (IPSec, SSL)
  • Basic firewall rules (FortiGate/Palo Alto)


  • Troubleshooting:

  • Diagnose and resolve:

    Layer 2/3 connectivity issues

  • Wireless coverage problems
  • VoIP QoS prioritization
  • Tools Proficiency:
  • Monitoring:
  • ManageEngine OpManager (or equivalent)
  • Basic Cisco Prime/Aruba Central
  • Documentation:
  • Maintain network diagrams (Visio)
  • Update CMDB records

  • Team collaboration: Works with Field Engineers on tickets

  • Learning agility: Willing to upskill in automation/cloud

  • Process adherence: Follows ITIL change management

    Basic Microsoft integration:
